Josh Duhamel, Alice Eve to Star in Legal Thriller ‘Beyond Deceit’

Posted by Staff in Mar 12,2015 with No Comments

Josh Duhamel and Alice Eve have joined Anthony Hopkins and Al Pacino in Beyond Deceit, a legal thriller that will mark the directorial debut of screenwriter Shintaro Shimosawa.

Glen Powell, who will appear in Ryan Murphy’s upcoming Scream Queens, and Leah McKendrick are also joining the cast, which already includes Malin Akerman and Byung-hun Lee.

Duhamel is stepping into the shoes previously worn by Dan Stevens, who dropped out due to a conflict with Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast.

Duhamel will now star as an ambitious young lawyer who takes on a big case against a ruthless executive of a pharmaceutical company, only to find himself drawn into a murder case in which he is the prime suspect. Eve portrays his wife.

The script was written by Adam Mason and Simon Boyes with a rewrite by Shimosawa.

Jonathan Senger and Ellen Wander are producing.

Duhamel last starred with Emmy Rossum and Hilary Swank in You’re Not You and is now on TV starring in CBS’ Battle Creek, the new cop show from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan. He is repped by ICM Partners, John Carrabino Management and Hansen Jacobson.

Eve last shot thriller Criminal, from Millennium Films, in which she stars alongside Ryan Reynolds, Kevin Costner and Gal Gadot. She is due to reprise her role as Carol in Star Trek 3 and has Neil LaBute‘s Dirty Weekend premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival. She is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment. [Source]

‘Battle Creek’ episode 2 preview: New videos featuring Josh Duhamel, Dean Winters

Posted by Staff in Mar 08,2015 with No Comments

If you enjoyed “Battle Creek” last week, the good news is that there is plenty more to come. Russ Agnew and Milt Chamberlain have already become an unlikely but entertaining partnership, and it will be interesting to see where this story goes from here.

We already like the premise for Sunday night’s new episode “Syruptitious”: After all, how many different opportunities do you really have to watch a TV show themed almost entirely around someone being drowned in maple syrup? Nope, this is not just some pancake lover’s dream come true; it is actually the premise for the next new episode.

1. The investigation begins – What we enjoy most about this video is simply that we get to find out more about the case, and we love any and all references to Josh Duhamel’s character and basketball. Anything to remind us that his name is basically the rhyming version of Wilt Chamberlain.

2. A difference of opinion – We’re glad to see more of Kal Penn on this episode already, and in this particular preview, we see that he and Milt are starting to get a rapport. Also, Milt and Russ clearly have different methods of how to deal with him.

Sony Sells Out Vince Gilligan-David Shore’s ‘Battle Creek’ Worldwide

Posted by Staff in Mar 08,2015 with No Comments

To say that international broadcasters were hot for new cop drama Battle Creek would be an understatement.

The series, which premiered March 1 on CBS, brings together the critical cache of Breaking Bad‘s Vince Gilligan, who first developed the show back in 2002, with the mainstream commercial track record of David Shore, creator of global hit House M.D. So it was a given that Sony Pictures TV, which is selling Battle Creek worldwide, would have little problem convincing international broadcasters to get onboard.

Sure enough, Sony announced March 6 that the show has sold out worldwide, with deals for more than 100 territories, including RTL for Germany, TF1 in France, Shaw Media in Canada, Globo TV in Brazil and online streaming service iQiyi in China.

“Two of television’s best storytellers have come together to create a great buddy cop story,” said Keith LeGoy, president of international distribution for Sony Pictures Television in a statement. Battle Creek had a strong debut this week in the U.S., performing especially well with a broad audience, so we anticipate viewers around the world will find this series equally engaging.” [Source]

‘Battle Creek’ episode 2 preview: What’s next for Josh Duhamel, Dean Winters, cast?

Posted by Staff in Mar 08,2015 with No Comments

Did you enjoy the premiere of “Battle Creek” on CBS Sunday night? We certainly did. It is enough of a traditional cop show to feel familiar, but you’ve got two great leads in Josh Duhamel and Dean Winters to go along with a tone that allows for just a little bit of comedy. There’s some potential here for this to be the sort of series that sticks around for a long time, but it will depend ultimately on the ratings that come out tomorrow.

What we can say for now is that we absolutely love the title for the next new episode “Syruptitious.” We’re going to celebrate any time that we have a cheesy pun like this. The reason that this title is such is because maple syrup is going to be a huge theme in the latest investigation. Take a look at the synopsis below:

“Special Agent Milt Chamberlain and Det. Russ Agnew go undercover as distillers to infiltrate the world of Battle Creek’s maple syrup cartels when a murder victim is found to have drowned in the gooey breakfast condiment. Meanwhile, Det. Font White goes to war with his medical marijuana dealer.“

We have to say first and foremost that we’re not entirely sure that we ever imagined the words “maple syrup cartels” being used next to each other once in our entire life. Yet, we very much approve of it after the fact.

Hopefully, we’re going to see more entertaining moments on the show moving forward, as it is starting to be clear that Milt is going to be sticking around for a little while. We’ll have some further news soon. [Source]
